Barcelona target Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski 1

The fight for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski is about to heat up with Spanish outlet Marca reporting that Barcelona are ready to enter the race for the Poland international.

Lewandowski was long thought to be tied to Bayern Munich, but after the 25-year-old recently denied those rumours, some of Europe’s biggest clubs have begun to circle.

Chelsea and Manchester City were said to be the clubs leading the race, but with Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino a big fan of the striker, the La Liga champions’ director of football, Andoni Zubizarreta, is ready to table a tempting pre-contract.

Staying with Dortmund, last season’s Champions League runners-up are close to bringing Nuri Sahin back to the Bundesliga.

The former Dortmund man left the then champions for Real Madrid, but injury saw that debut season left in ruin.

But a loan move to Liverpool saw the 25-year-old return to form, before his 18-month loan back to Dortmund saw the player back to his old self.

And now Jurgen Klopp wants his former charge back on a full-time basis and, according to Kicker, club officials have only to decide on a 7 million euro price tag to complete the transfer.

Iago Aspas’ stay at Liverpool could be a very short one with Spanish outlet Deportes 7 Valencia reporting that the former Celta Vigo striker wants to leave Anfield on loan in the January window.

The 26-year-old has had a slow start to his debut season in the Premier League, yet to score in six appearances, despite a goal frenzy in the club’s preseason.

And with Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez reunited at the head of Liverpool’s attack, Aspas is now looking outside Anfield for more options.

Recently ruled out for five weeks with a thigh injury, Aspas is desperate to return to a starting position, and with a future on the substitutes bench more than likely under Brendan Rodgers, a January move could be on the cards.
