Serie A 2013-2014: Round 10

There is a midweek round of action in Serie A as Round 10 takes centre stage.

The action begins on Tuesday evening as Inter travel to Bergamo to play Atalanta.

The home side were beaten 1-0 away against Sampdoria at the weekend, ending their three match winning streak and will be without the suspended Constantin Nica who was sent off in the game.

Inter meanwhile run out comfortable winners over high flying Verona 4-2 although they will also be without a player of their own as Ishak Belfodil was shown a red card after the game.

There are eight late kick offs on Wednesday night with A.C Milan playing Lazio at the San Siro.

The Rossoneri lost at the weekend away in Parma after a last minute winner from Marco Parolo.

Milan find themselves in the bottom half of the table after week nine and there is increasing pressure on coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Lazio on the other hand got back to winning ways on Sunday night with an easy win over Cagliari at the Olimpico.

Arguably the tie of the round sees Napoli head north to face Fiorentina.

The two teams won at the weekend thanks to braces from Gonalzo Higuain and Juan Cuadrado.

Both sides are in great form with Napoli only losing one game so far this season in the league while Fiorentina have won back to back games against Juventus and Chievo respectively.

Juventus host Catania in Turin after bouncing back in round nine.

The Bianconeri had lost their previous two games in all competitions but goals from Arturo Vidal and Carlos Tevez gave team a straight forward 2-0 victory over Genoa.

Catania meanwhile were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw at home to newly promoted Sassuolo in Luigi De Canio’s first game in charge of the club.

Bologna travel to Cagliari off the back of their first win of the season.

Coach Stefano Pioli dedicated the victory to the Rossoblu faithful after an early Jose Angel Crespo goal was enough for all three points at home against Livorno.

Cagliari on the other hand were comprehensively beaten away in Rome against Lazio 2-0 on Sunday evening.

Genoa entertain Parma with the home side still struggling at the foot of the table.

The Grifone are just two place above the relegation zone after another defeat in round nine, at the hands of Juventus.

Parma were victorious 3-2 against Milan at the weekend and are now comfortable in the top half of the Serie A table, in 8th place.

Livorno host Torino, with both teams hoping to bounce back after disappointing games in round 9.

The home side were beaten away against struggling Bologna while Torino lost 2-0 against Napoli after giving away two penalties and having a man sent off.

Sassuolo will be looking to climb out of the relegation zone for the first time this season as they take on Udinese.

The newly promoted side earn an impressive draw away at Catania in round nine and are on the same points as their opponents at the weekend who sit in 17th place.

Udinese come into the game after a disappointing defeat to Roma, having played much of the second half against ten men.

Verona entertain Sampdoria looking to get back to winning ways.

The Gialloblu suffered a heavy defeat to Inter at the weekend but are still riding high in Serie A in sixth place.

Sampdoria meanwhile claimed their second straight league win with a 1-0 victory over Atalanta.

The mid-week round concludes in Rome with Roma taking on Chievo.

The Giallorossi continued their perfect start to the season away against Udinese on Sunday, despite having Maicon sent off mid-way through the second half.

Roma also set a new Serie A record for the most consecutive wins at the start of a season (nine).

Chievo, on the other hand, lost again at the weekend despite taking the lead against Fiorentina in Verona.
