Federer still hungry for more slams after Wimbledon loss

Roger Federer insists he still has the hunger and desire to win more grand slam titles after losing the Wimbledon final to Novak Djokovic for the second consecutive year.

World number two Federer, a 17-time grand slam champion, fell to a 7-6 (7-1) 6-7 (10-12) 6-4 6-3 defeat on Centre Court on Sunday.

It marked further disappointment for Federer, who was hoping to win a record eighth Wimbledon title, after he lost an epic five-set thriller to the world number one 12 months ago.

After his latest defeat, Federer paid tribute to his opponent but insisted he is already looking forward to challenging at more grand slams.

"I'm still motivated and hungry to keep playing, a match like this helps," he said during the on-court presentation.

"Novak played not only great today but for the two weeks, the whole year, the whole of last year, the years before that. He deserved it, well done Novak.

"I had my chances in first set being a break up. The second set I got lucky to win that and in the third I had chances.

"That's how it goes - he was tougher on the big points, he was rock solid, he played great. I didn't play so bad myself. That's how it goes."
