Iniesta quells contract fears

Andres Iniesta has reassured Barcelona fans he has no desire to leave Camp Nou and is confident an agreement on a new contract can be reached.

The 29-year-old Spain international has seen his future with the Catalan capital club come under the microscope because of reports that negotiations with officials had broken down.

But the 2010 World Cup winner has reiterated he is committed to the La Liga giants and is not seeking a move

Speaking to Onda Cero's 'First Touch' show, the two-time European Championships winner said: "I've said many times, it is a matter of time on these situations.

"My desire is to be there and the club wants me hence the desire of both parties is clear."

The six-time La Liga title winner has not scored a goal so far this season for Barca but said he was confident in his ability of operating at the elite level for many more years ahead.

The one-club midfielder added: "I feel I have many good years left to continue playing at the top level and that's what I want to do.

"I don't like to use the word negotiations in these cases. No situations are resolved in two or three months."

Barcelona top the Primera Division standings on 24 points with Atletico Madrid after winning all eight of their fixtures so far this season.
