Villa set for Atletico move

Barcelona have announced they have agreed a deal "in principle" to sell David Villa to Atletico Madrid.
The Spain striker, who had a year left on his contract and been linked with a move to Tottenham, will cost Atletico up to 5.1million Euros (£4.5million).Villa, Spain's all-time leading goalscorer, made 119 appearances for Barca after joining in the summer of 2010 for 40million Euros, scoring 48 goals.

Should the move go through, the former Valencia player could face Barca in the Spanish Super Cup, which is played between last season's league and cup winners, in one of his first games for his new side.

Barca are 1.66 to win the league title in 2013/14, while Atletico are 67.00. Real Madrid can be backed at 2.25.

Meanwhile, former Barcelona defender Eric Abidal has rejoined newly-promoted Monaco on a three-year contract after being released by the La Liga champions.

The France international first underwent surgery on a tumour in 2011 and had a liver transplant in 2012 but returned to the Barca side in April.

"It's very emotional, it's huge. After what I've been through, it wasn't easy to find a club with confidence in me," said Abidal, who spent six seasons at the Nou Camp.

The 33-year-old began his career at Monaco before moving on to Lille and Lyon, where he won the French league title three times.
